Life gets busy. We have all sorts of things that take up our time like work, church, family, relationships, and other tasks. Not only do these things take our time and keep us busy, but they also keep us busy mentally and can draw us away from God.
When we are consumed with the busy parts of life, it is easy to lose track of what is most important. We focus on the things in front of us, good things even, but lose sight of the things that are central to who we are. When we forget these things, it is easy for our feelings, reactions, and emotions to spiral out of control.
Instead of allowing that to happen, you can remind yourself of what is true about God. These reminders will help keep you focused on what is most important, making it easier to do the things He has for you like work, church, family, and relationships.
Here are four things for you to remember about God:
God still saves.
Sometimes people can lose track of the idea that God is the Savior. Your salvation in Christ is a central part of your identity. This isn’t something He used to do only in Bible times or only when you were in crisis. The salvation of God is still an active part of your life, part of who you are.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9, NIV
His saving grace is a gift, given to you freely.
He knows best.
It’s easy to think you are in control of everything in your life. You live in an independent-minded society that leads people to believe that they control what happens. If they work hard enough or do the right things, everything will work out.
Life isn’t always that way. You can rest assured, however, that God is working all things out. He cares for you and knows what is best for you. Even if you don’t understand it, you can trust that He is always working things out in love.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28, ESV
He loves you and knows what is best for your life.
God heals.
In a scientifically advanced culture, it is easy to forget that God still heals. There are Bible stories full of these accounts, but there are also promises that He heals in your life. Just as the psalm reminds us, God heals people’s physical ailments as well as the places they are broken emotionally.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. – Psalm 147:3, NIV
You can trust Him to heal you.
He wins.
There are a lot of things in life that seem like they have the final say, but there is only one that truly wins. Through all three persons of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) He always wins. No matter what you are facing, you can rest in the promise that the God of love will always triumph in your life.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” – Revelation 1:8, ESV
God is the beginning and the end of all things, even in your own life.
When you need help remembering.
Remembering these truths can be hard, especially in the middle of your busy life. A Christian counselor is a great resource to help you. He or she can work through whatever you are facing in your life and help you remember who God is. You don’t have to do it alone. Call our office at Glendale Christian Counseling today for help.
